Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Texas
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
ED - Emergency Department (1 year of experience)
ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
ACLS
BLS
CPI
PALS
TNCC

Unit Details

Emergency department / freestanding emergency department setting
15 beds
Patient ratio: 1:4 depending on acuity
Every other weekend required
No on-call

Key Skills and Experience

Compassion
Sense of urgency
Team player
Ability to rapidly identify sepsis, STEMI, stroke, and trauma
Experience with airway management and ventilators preferred
Strong critical thinking skills preferred

Common Duties

Splinting
Wound care
IV starts
Medication administration
Assessments and reassessments
Documentation
Oversight of EMT-Ps

Work Environment

Day and night shifts are staffed with RNs and EMT-Ps/nurse externs
Floating is unlikely

Dress Code

Royal blue scrubs

2:1, 1:1 if pt is in active labor they try to follow awhonn standards when possible. Flexible with schedule will do block schedule.

Cons

Only thing they will float travelers to antepartum or assign pp pts on hold in L&D unit more frequently instead of rotating the nurses.
