Unit: Orthopedic Surgical Trauma (OST) #613
Floor: 4th
Number of Beds: 46
Staff on Day Shift: 2 Charge Nurses, 9 Nurses, 3 Techs, variable Sitters
Staff on Night Shift: Similar staffing with 2 Techs
Patient Ratios: 1:6 and 1:5
Equipment Used: Chest tubes, traction devices, orthopedic equipment, IV, oxygen, tracheostomies, drains
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech

Required Skills & Experience

Must Have: Chest tube management
Preferred: Trauma experience
Typical procedures: Management of lines and drains

Certifications & Licenses

BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
NIH Certification
Registered Nurse License (valid in Texas)

Work Environment & Expectations

Floating Area: Medical Surgical units
Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs
Personality Fit: Flexible with good time management skills
Schedule: Includes 4 weekend shifts per schedule

13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

This position is ideal for RNs with orthopedic trauma experience who are comfortable managing chest tubes and working in a fast-paced surgical trauma unit.
