Travel RN Opportunity – Intensive Care Unit

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire

Unit Information

• Unit: Intensive Care
• Number of Beds: 20
• Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 8-10 RNs, 1-3 LNAs, sitter PRN
  • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 8-10 RNs, 1-3 LNAs, sitter PRN
• Patient Ratios (based on acuity):

  • ECMO: 2:1
  • Post open heart surgery: 1:1
  • Critical ICU/devices patient: 1:1
  • Typical ICU assignment: 1:2
  • Stepdown: 1:3-4
• Equipment Used:

  • IV pumps, telemetry monitors, hoyer/stand lifts
  • Impella, IABP, CRRT (NxStage)
  • Bladder scanner, Bair hugger, rapid transfuser, Blanketrol (warming/cooling)
  • Chest tubes, vein finder, Sorin retransfuser (post cardiac surgery)
  • Ventilator, high flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP
• EMR System: Sunrise
• Patient Population: Mixed medical and surgical ICU

Required Skills & Experience

• Must Have:

  • Telemetry experience
  • Ideally Progressive Care Unit (PCU) level or higher
• Preferred:

  • Experience with critical drips and ventilators
  • Prior ICU experience

Typical Procedures Performed

• Pericardiocentesis with drains left in place post-procedure
• Thoracentesis
• Central line insertion
• Arterial line insertion
• Chest tube insertion
• Intubation
• TEE cardioversion, TTE
• Transvenous pacing wire insertion

Certifications Required

• ACLS
• BLS

Work Schedule & Environment

• Every third weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating area: Progressive Care
• Dress code: Scrubs (color/attire not specified)

Contract Length

• 13 weeks
