Travel RN Opportunity – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Location: Alexandria, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Fully accredited by The Joint Commission
Participates in Medicare, Medicaid, Champus, and various commercial insurance programs
Located in downtown Alexandria, accessible via Interstate 49

Unit Information: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Location: 3rd Floor, Rapides Women’s & Children’s Hospital
Number of Beds: 6
Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse + 1 RN/LPN (varies with census)
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse + 1 RN/LPN (varies with census)
Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:2
Equipment Used:
- Alaris IV pump
- Bair Hugger
- Kangaroo Feeding Pump
- Giraffe infant warmer
- Ventilators, BiPAP, High Flow O2
EMR System: Meditech
Medication Dispensing: Pyxis

Required Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 1 year pediatric ICU nursing experience (mandatory)
Preferred experience: PICU, NICU, or women’s health areas (labor and delivery, OB/GYN)

Typical Procedures Performed

Spinal taps
Titration of critical drips (sedation, vasoactive, paralytic)
Sedated MRI
EKG/EEG/Telemetry monitoring
Port access and discontinuation
Intubation and extubation

Certifications Required

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Floating Assignments

May float to NICU (low acuity patients) or Nursery
May float to OB/GYN if qualified

Work Schedule & Dress Code

Rotating weekends required
May work a mixed schedule of days, nights, and weekends to cover staffing needs
