Travel RN – Med Surg (Detox Unit)

Location: Pulaski, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

Seeking a Travel Registered Nurse for a Detox unit with preference for candidates experienced in Med Surg and detox care. ER experience will also be considered. The unit cares for patients aged 18 to geriatric, occasionally seeing 17-year-olds. The patient population includes individuals with substance abuse, polysubstance abuse, alcohol use disorder, behavioral conditions, hypertension, syncope, seizures, liver disease, cognitive changes, and high fall risk.

• Unit: Detox Unit
• Beds: 13
• Patient Ratio: 1:7
• Shift: See shift details (36 guaranteed hours/week)
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend and as needed
• Call: No call required
• Float: May be required to float to other departments occasionally
• EHR System: HMS/Medhost
• Equipment: IV pumps, Zoll monitor, IV catheters

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 3 years of Med Surg experience, with Med Surg experience within the last year
• BLS certification
• ALS certification
• PALS certification

Clinical Focus & Treatments

• Common diagnoses: Substance abuse, polysubstance abuse, alcohol use disorder, behavioral health conditions, hypertension, syncope, seizures, liver disease, cognitive changes, high fall risk
• Treatments include valium tapers, Subutex, Vivitrol, banana bags, rescue medications, early and one-time medication doses, and routine/home medications

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs weekly on Mondays
• Dress code: Any solid color scrubs; no outerwear with logos/prints (except hospital logo), hoodies, open-toed shoes, or excessive jewelry
• Must comply with Tennessee Abuse Registry check prior to assignment start

This position requires travel status with candidates located 60 miles or more from the facility.
