Registered Nurse (Med Surg) - Travel Assignment

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medical-Surgical
• Number of Beds: 60
• Patient Ratios: 1:5 or 1:6
• Equipment Used: Bladder scanner, vein finder, IV pumps, wound vacs
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical inpatient experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Utilize the nursing process to deliver patient care post trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities
• Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
• Maintain professional accountability and confidentiality of patient information
• Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by self and other caregivers
• Adhere to nursing practice guidelines and state Nurse Practice Act
• Comply with facility mission, values, and service standards

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk most of the shift
• Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
• Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs.; pinch up to 15 lbs.; minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
• Exposure to blood and body fluids is a high-risk factor
• May require flexible scheduling and shift changes based on patient care needs

Additional Information

• Flu vaccination is mandatory for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; no declinations accepted
• Dress code requires black scrubs only

Summary
