Position Overview
Provide comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) setting. The role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, focusing on individuals with moderately complex medical conditions requiring intensive therapies and nursing vigilance.
Unit Description
- 18-bed Intermediate Care Unit
- Patients with severe but usually non-life-threatening conditions
- Common cases include post ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, sepsis, cardiac, and respiratory issues
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary, patient-centered environment
Work Schedule
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Nights: 1845 - 0715)
- 36 guaranteed hours weekly
- No call requirements
- Must be available to work 2 of the 3 major holidays during the contract
- May be required to float within competency level
- Required to pick up one additional shift every 4-week schedule period
- Schedule may include weekends and holidays
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Nevada
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Experience with vasopressors, titratable drips, arterial lines (art lines), procedural sedation, thrombolytics, and tracheostomy management
Additional Information
- The environment is extremely busy and fast-paced, comparable to a Level I trauma center
- The facility serves a large regional area and is a Level II Trauma Center with stroke accreditation
- Travelers may be called off with 48 hours’ notice for low census without penalty (full or partial shifts)
