Job Opportunity: Radiation Therapist (Rad Therapist)

Job Summary

Provide radiation therapy treatments to cancer and osteoarthritis patients using advanced equipment such as Trilogy and Trubean machines. Deliver prescribed doses of ionizing radiation under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist, perform simulation procedures, and document treatment parameters accurately.

Work Schedule

• Monday to Friday
• 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• No weekend, on-call, or floating requirements

Patient Population & Treatments

• Cancer and osteoarthritis patients
• Treatments include SBRT, IMRT, basic radiation therapy, and some breath-hold treatments
• Ability to treat/simulate SRS and SBRT patients required

Responsibilities

• Operate and perform quality assurance on radiation therapy equipment daily
• Troubleshoot minor equipment and patient setup issues
• Report machine malfunctions promptly and document incidents
• Accurately assess and modify patient setups for simulation and treatment
• Fabricate and use immobilization devices and techniques
• Schedule patient treatments coordinating with physicians, therapists, and chemotherapy schedules
• Ensure all patients have necessary diagnostic films, reports, signed consent forms, and pathology reports before simulation
• Document treatment parameters and patient care activities accurately in treatment records
• Perform billing and documentation audits specific to linear accelerator and simulator treatments
• Communicate effectively and courteously with patients and families
• Assist other therapists and help with patient positioning and movement as needed
• Maintain cleanliness and logs for equipment such as water baths

Required Qualifications

• Valid Radiation Therapist license in Louisiana
• Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy or related field
• Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy / Radiography
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Minimum of 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience, including experience within the last year

Experience

• Ability to work with Trilogy and/or Trubean machines
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Additional Information

• Patient load: 15-25 patients per day per machine, with two therapists per machine
• Temp-to-perm possibility
