Registered Nurse - PCU (Progressive Care Unit) - Cardiac

Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) - Cardiac
Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (Night Shift)
Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Call Requirements: None
Number of Openings: 1

Unit Information

Unit Size: 41 beds
Patient Ratios: 4 to 5 patients per nurse
Patient Population: Cardiac telemetry, post-CABG, post-cardiac catheterization, chest pain, congestive heart failure (CHF)
Equipment: Alaris pumps, Omnicell
Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama
Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with at least some experience within the last year
Telemetry nursing experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Work Environment & Culture

Dress Code: Navy scrubs; no fleece; adherence to fingernail policy
Personality Fit: Displays the "4 C’s" (communication, collaboration, critical thinking, compassion)

Additional Notes

No call responsibilities
Patient care focused on cardiac telemetry and post-operative cardiac patients
Supportive team environment with access to advanced cardiac care technology
