Registered Nurse (RN) - House Supervisor (Nights)

Job Summary

• Supervise nursing services and direct nursing care to residents in compliance with nursing standards and state/federal regulations.
• Oversee daily nursing activities performed by nursing assistants and LPNs.
• Provide direct resident care as needed within scope of practice.
• Assist with physician rounds, examinations, treatments, and specimen collection.
• Manage medication administration, documentation, and reporting resident responses.
• Update and review care plans, communicate changes to team and family, and ensure care plan implementation.
• Supervise post-mortem procedures and handle resident belongings after death.
• Conduct staff evaluations, assist with orientation, and adjust staffing assignments to ensure quality care.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment and report safety hazards.
• Participate in care plan conferences, team meetings, and quality assurance activities.
• Ensure compliance with infection control and documentation standards.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania.
• Minimum of 1 year of House Supervisor experience, including experience within the last year.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Knowledge and Skills

• Medical asepsis, body mechanics, personal care of residents, and proper use/care of equipment.
• Observation techniques, reporting, and recording nursing care accurately.
• Thorough knowledge of nursing theory and its application.
• Ability to follow written and verbal directives and exercise independent judgment in emergencies.
• Good communication and observation skills.
• Awareness of cost containment and efficient time utilization.
• Courteous and professional manner toward residents, visitors, and coworkers.

Physical Demands

• Good physical health and mental alertness to perform job functions timely.
• Ability to pass employment physicals and have physician permission to perform duties.
• Must be free of communicable diseases.
• Knowledge and application of good body mechanics.

Dress Code

• Any colored scrubs.
• Clean, closed-toe shoes (no open-toe sandals).
• Hair must be clean.
• Sweaters such as cardigans or vests allowed.
• No large or dangling jewelry; no heavy perfumes.
• Name tags worn daily.
• No short or jogging pants.
