Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room

Job Overview

• Work in a Level I Trauma Center with 16 operating rooms, routinely running 12-14 rooms.
• Patient types include Cardiac/PV, Neuro, Ortho (primarily trauma), Robotics, Gynecology, Urology, General, Pediatrics, and Transplants.
• Small volume of ENT and Plastic procedures.
• Expected to scrub or circulate (both preferred).
• Average caseload: 35-50 cases per day with turnover expectation under 20 minutes.
• Use of specialized equipment including 3 DaVinci robots, Stealth technology for Neuro navigation, and Synthes or Stryker for ortho trauma.
• Weekend call from end of shift Friday until 6:30 AM Monday.
• Floating required across multiple campuses.

Experience & Skills Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years of current operating room experience (24 months required in work history/resume).
• Circulating/operating room experience required.
• Scrub experience preferred.
• Required experience with General, DaVinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases.
• Preferred additional experience in Neurology, Orthopedics (primarily trauma), Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, and Vascular cases.
• EPIC electronic medical record system experience within the last 3 years required.
• Trauma Level I experience preferred.
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment within the last 12 months (no first-time travelers).
• Skills checklist specific to Operating Room Nurse discipline (scrub/scrubbing) required.

Licensure & Certifications

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required at time of submission.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) BLS certification required.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Additional Information

• Scrubs provided.
• Patient ratio typically 1:1.
• 16-bed unit.
• Must be able to float across multiple campuses.
• Professional references or performance evaluations within the last 24 months preferred.

This position is ideal for experienced OR nurses with strong skills in robotics and trauma, comfortable working in a fast-paced Level I trauma center environment.
