Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Overview

Provides rehabilitative treatment under the supervision and direction of a Physical Therapist in a long-term care / rehab setting.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in Utah
• Physical Therapy Assistant (1 year of experience)
• Physical Therapy Assistant experience within the last year
• Experience in a(n) Long Term Care or Rehabilitation setting

Responsibilities

• Uses evidence-based practice to support clinical interventions
• Administers rehabilitation procedures such as manual techniques, ambulation, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and supportive or assistive devices
• Assesses patient progress and communicates with the supervising Physical Therapist to adjust treatment
• Reports treatment effectiveness to the supervising Physical Therapist
• Provides consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers
• Communicates with the supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans
• Provides input for discharge summary of services provided
• Documents required information in the electronic documentation system and maintains patient records
• Records treatment minutes accurately
• Participates in required meetings, trainings, in-services, and conferences
• Works with the supervising Physical Therapist to obtain necessary DME or supplies
• May supervise and support students under the guidance of the Physical Therapist
