Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: North Kansas City, Missouri
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 3x12 hour nights, every other weekend required
Start Date: ASAP (Tuesday Orientation)
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
License: Missouri RN or Compact License

Key Requirements

• Charting System: Cerner experience required (no exceptions)
• Travel Experience: Required (no exceptions)
• No first-time travelers accepted
• Certifications (must have current, no pending):

  • ACLS (American Heart Association or RQI)
  • BLS (American Heart Association or RQI)
  • PALS (American Heart Association or RQI; ENPC accepted in lieu of PALS)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - required for ED/ER and ICU candidates; ACTN acceptable alternative
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - required starting January 2026 (preferred currently)
• EKG Competency:

  • Must pass an EKG exam on orientation day with a score of 80% or higher, including lethal rhythms
  • Dysrhythmia Advanced Course required with minimum 80% total score and 100% on lethal rhythms section
• CEU Requirements:

  • Must provide CEUs with credit hours clearly stated
  • ED/ER: 4 stroke, 8 trauma, 4 cardiac CEUs
  • ICU/Neuro ICU/CCU/PCU/CVICU/CICU: 8 stroke, 8 trauma, 8 cardiac CEUs
  • Telemetry: 8 cardiac, 8 stroke CEUs
  • CEUs must be completed within 1 year of start and updated annually
  • TNCC and NIH certifications count toward CEUs as specified
• Pass/Fail Testing Acknowledgement: Required for Telemetry, PCU, Critical Care, or ER RNs

Background Checks & Verifications

• Criminal background check covering all states/counties lived/worked in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and OIG checks required
• State-specific Missouri EDL search prior to start
• Primary source verification of RN license and NURSYS verification required
• Transcript/Diploma verification required for ED nurses

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (instant tests not accepted)
• Fit mask testing onsite; must pass fit test (no facial hair allowed)
• Flu vaccination required by 11/1; approved medical/religious exemptions accepted
• COVID vaccination required prior to start; facility-specific waiver form accepted
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
• Immunizations required:

  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella (2 boosters if low titer)
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (1 booster if low titer)
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination (Aya requirement)

Facility-Specific Policies & Documents

• Safe Medication Administration Agreement required for all RNs
• Dress code and artificial/natural nail policies apply
• HealthStream modules must be completed by Friday of orientation week
• Skills checklist required; MS skills accepted for Rehab placements
• Flu shot exemption forms must be specific and approved by facility
• COVID waiver form accepted if declining vaccination

• No block scheduling allowed
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• 2 recent references and candidate application/resume required

This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with Cerner and night shift experience who meet all certification and testing requirements.
