Registered Nurse (Critical Care) - Travel/Contract
Location: Tyler, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Critical Care RN is responsible for delivering patient care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Key responsibilities include:
- Clear communication with staff and patients regarding treatment plans
- Sensitivity to patients' physical, spiritual, and emotional needs
- Supporting organizational programs to ensure quality care
- Efficient management of department and patient activities
- Providing quality customer service to patients, families, and healthcare team members
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year recent Critical Care experience in a similar healthcare setting
- Preferred: 2 years experience in Level I Trauma
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Education & Licensure
- Minimum: 2-Year Degree (Preferred: 4-Year Degree)
- Current RN licensure for Texas required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
Certifications (As Applicable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
Required Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score)
- Color Blind Testing (online acceptable)
- Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or Angoff score if higher)
- Annual Core Testing (for subcontractors)
Background & Verification Requirements
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
- Education verification (highest level) required
- Work history verification for 7 years
- Fingerprinting (time-sensitive for certain states)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire for positive TB results, renewed annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

- English (Speak, Read, Write)
Residency Restriction
Candidates residing in the following counties are not eligible: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris.
This position requires a highly skilled Critical Care RN with appropriate certifications and compliance with health and background verifications to ensure quality patient care in a Level I Trauma setting.
