Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Shift: Night (3x12 hours), 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Hours per Week: 36
Job Summary
- Position requires floating to multiple units including NICU, PICU, Emergency Department, Stepdown, and Medical-Surgical as needed.
- Must be willing to comply with facility float expectations and assignments.
- Supervisory references required: 2 professional references, with at least 1 from a supervisor or manager (Charge RN acceptable). Peer references are not accepted.
- Preferred experience: Close to 2 years in specialty.
Required Qualifications
- Current Ohio State or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse (based on preferred experience).
- Must have a valid government-issued photo ID matching legal name on RN license and certifications.
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start.
- Completion of required background checks including:
- Criminal background check (7-year search including all counties lived/worked).
- Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse or equivalent.
- Fingerprinting (OH BCI/FBI) within 60 days of start, updated for each new contract.
- State-specific searches (Nurse Aide Registry, Inmate Registry, Medicaid Exemption, Abuse Registry).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
- Sex offender search within 30 days of start.
- Required certifications (AHA only, name must exactly match legal name and RN license):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required for NICU RNs
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- Required health documents and immunizations:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (facility accepts signed Infection Control Policy in lieu of physical copy).
- TB testing: Two PPDs or IGRA test within 12 months; additional requirements if positive.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (must be completed after age 11).
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative or equivocal. Religious exemptions not accepted.
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative or equivocal.
- Hepatitis B: Declination, completed 3-vaccine series, or positive titer required.
- Seasonal flu vaccine required between October 31 and May 31; medical/religious exemptions require facility approval and mask-wearing during flu season.
- N95 fit testing within 1 year of start, updated annually; specific mask models accepted. Onsite testing allowed if prior testing not completed.
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam and other competency exams as applicable.
Contract Details
- Contract length: 13 weeks.
Additional Notes
- Floating to various units is mandatory.
- Legal name on all documents must match RN license exactly; no nicknames or aliases.
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 24-48 hours of signing contract; facility may complete onsite if results are pending at start.
- Drug screen must be initiated within 72 hours of signed contract if within the 60-day window.
- Candidates with positive TB or other health conditions must complete additional facility-specific questionnaires.
- All certifications and documents must be uploaded with correct expiration dates; screenshots or photos are not acceptable.
- Candidates with approved flu vaccine exemptions must wear masks during designated flu season.
