Step-Down Registered Nurse

Overview

• Location: Auburn, New York
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Night, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
• Weekly hours: 36
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Scheduling: Every other weekend and every other holiday; no blocked scheduling
• Local candidates: Accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Stepdown (2 years of experience)
• Stepdown experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Key Clinical Experience

• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• 12-lead EKG/ECG
• IV start and maintenance
• PICC line management
• Blood product administration
• Emergency medications
• Procedural sedation administration/monitoring
• Cardiac drip titration
• CVA / acute stroke management
• BiPAP / CPAP management
• Chest tube insertion/removal assistance
• Infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE
• Phlebotomy

Unit Details

• Common patient diagnoses include CHF, post-heart catheterization, post-vascular procedures, respiratory failure requiring BiPAP/CPAP/Vapotherm, and cardiac dysrhythmias
• Responsibilities include post-heart cath care, TR band management, post-vascular procedure monitoring, frequent vital signs, and neurovascular checks
• Medication system used: Pyxis

• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are paid at a lower travel rate
• 48-hour weekly schedules may be available if requested
