Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lancaster, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry
• Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Schedule Options: 3 or 4 shifts per week, each 12 hours
• Patient Ratio: 1:6 to 1:7
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: Required to float within scope to like units or sister facilities

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical / Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• One completed travel nursing assignment
• Certifications:

  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License and Social Security Card required
• Background check covering 7 years of residence/employment, including national and state criminal searches
• Drug screen: 10-panel urine test within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
• Immunizations and titers required or documented declinations:

  • Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination series)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer or vaccination series)
  • Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (flu season August–March)
• Negative TB test (T-spot, Q-Gold, or 2-step PPD) within 90 days of start, or documented history with chest x-ray as applicable
• COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
• NURSYS license verification required
• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Complete employment application/resume and skills checklist updated annually

Orientation and Facility Specifics

• Virtual interview required before assignment
• Modules and orientation materials provided before start; must be completed prior to orientation or traveler will be sent home
• Photo for badge required (passport-style, frontal view)
• Various signed agreements and acknowledgments required before start (e.g., Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, HIPAA Attestation)
• Parking available at no cost
• Charting system: Epic
• Facility type: Short-term acute care hospital with 97 staffed beds
• Scrub color: Royal Blue

Additional Notes

• Block schedule accommodations may be requested but are not guaranteed
• Local candidates within 60 miles are considered
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; after 2 undocumented call-outs per contract, cancellation may occur
• During hurricane season (June–November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams; new or extended assignments during this time should be considered carefully
