• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Hours per week: 36

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in the Operating Room (OR) for all surgical cases except transplants and open heart surgeries.
• High volume of orthopedic cases, especially total joint replacements.
• Work includes robotics-assisted surgeries.
• Circulating nurse experience is required; scrub experience is preferred.
• Documentation using Meditech system is required.
• On-call duty required every third weekend.
• No first-time travelers accepted.
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility.

Support and Environment

• 24/7 in-house support from intensivists, nurse practitioners, hospitalists, and anesthesiologists.
• Additional provider support includes interpretation services, lift teams, pharmacy, phlebotomy, physical therapy, radiology, rapid response teams, respiratory services, social services, transportation, and unit secretary.
• Omnicell medication system used.
• SBAR communication protocol followed.
• Scrubs provided.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
• Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Current certifications from the American Heart Association:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Experience with MEDITECH documentation system.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or Passport).
• Background checks including SS trace, county searches (last 7 years), nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable; must be updated annually.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
• Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of contract start and upon expiration.
• Signed acknowledgments for job description, physical demands, code of conduct, confidentiality, abuse reporting, drug-free workplace policy, sexual harassment, and other facility-specific policies.
• Photo for badge following facility dress code and photo guidelines.
• Physical exam within last 12 months, updated annually.
• Fit mask testing with approved masks prior to start; no facial hair allowed that interferes with mask seal.
• Immunizations and titers required within 90 days of start (or 1 year for per diem workers):

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (updated every 10 years or declination with mask requirement)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD, Q Gold, or T-Spot)
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination by October 31; mask required if declining.
• COVID vaccination plus 1 booster or approved medical/religious exemption.
• 10-panel drug screen including THC within 30 days of start (1 year for per diem workers).
• Color blind exam (Ishihara test) required for clinical positions.
• Annual skills checklist.
• Verification of most recent employment.
• Two professional references within 3 years (required for Vaya).
