OR Tech / Surgical Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Vero Beach, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Work in Main Operating Room covering general surgery, orthopedic, neurology, ENT, vascular, plastics, gynecology, urology, and robotics cases.
• Position requires strong neuro experience.
• Shift: Day shift, typically 4x10 hours (6:00 AM - 4:30 PM), 40 hours per week.
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including sister facilities.
• Weekend and on-call requirements to be discussed during interview.
• Block scheduling not accommodated.
• Locals accepted at same rate.
• Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12 shifts or 40 hours for 8/10 shifts.
• Smoke-free facility: all travelers must be nicotine-free (verified by negative 10-panel drug screen including cotinine).

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1.5 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
• Surgical Technologist experience within the last year.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Certifications & Competencies

• ACLS not required for OR Tech.
• Pass/fail testing (EKG/Pharmacology) not applicable (only for RNs/LPNs).
• National certification verification required within 30 days of start.
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and HIPAA compliance required.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable.

Facility & Work Environment

• Short Term Acute Care, Teaching hospital with 332 staffed beds.
• Charting system: EPIC.
• Scrub color: Ceil Blue.
• Free parking in unrestricted spaces.

Additional Notes

• Time-sensitive online training modules must be completed by due date prior to start; these include COVID documentation submission.
• Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content cannot be skipped.
• Candidates with a break of more than 6 months between assignments at this facility will need to re-orient and complete modules again.
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with application; late RTO requests likely will not be approved.

Summary

This travel OR Tech / Surgical Tech role requires a minimum of 18 months experience with strong neuro surgical background, national certification preferred, and multiple health and background clearances. The position offers a day shift schedule with floating responsibilities and requires strict compliance with facility onboarding and health requirements in a smoke-free environment.
