Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Night Shift)

Location: Rockville Centre, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
• Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours

Required Certifications

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP)
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred but not mandatory
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• PALS
• NRP
• EFM
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Background and Screening Requirements

• 7-year background check completed within 30 days prior to start and updated annually, including:

  • Social Security Trace
  • County Search
  • National Sex Offender Registry (including updates effective 6/24/24)
  • National Criminal Background
  • FACIS Level 3
  • OFAC
  • NY Medicaid Exclusion List (OMIG)
  • OIG and SAM checks
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
• New York State Medicaid Exclusion List updated annually

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Facility-specific physical exam completed within 30 days prior to start using the required form (cannot be done onsite) and updated annually
• Fit test for N95 mask (Halyard Fluidshield or 3M 1860) within 12 months prior to start, updated annually
• Negative TB test (QGold, TSpot, or PPD) within 1 year; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 12 months and completed questionnaire required
• Immunizations or positive IgG titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
• Hepatitis B antibody and antigen results required (proof of vaccine series alone is insufficient)
• Seasonal flu vaccination required October 1 – April 30 (declinations allowed for religious or medical reasons, case-by-case)
• COVID vaccine series preferred
• Standard 9-panel drug screen completed within 30 days prior to start and updated annually (rapid drug tests not accepted)

Competency Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum score 80%)

Additional Notes

• Must complete and sign Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) form prior to start
• Employment application must include 7 years of employment history with explanations for any gaps
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
