Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Travel/Contract

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (4 shifts of 12 hours each per week, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 48


Job Description

  • Option for 36 or 48-hour shifts and 13 or 26 week contract lengths.
  • Travelers are prioritized first to float and must be prepared to float frequently to meet hospital staffing needs.
  • Assignment to units is based on experience; preferred unit requests should be made at submission.
  • Possible assignment to a sister campus located 16 minutes away.
  • Units include a variety of medical-surgical, telemetry, neuro, trauma, oncology, transplant, and progressive care units.
  • Drip medication administration required on all floors.
  • EPIC electronic charting experience required.
  • First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center.
  • Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and some floors have LPNs.
  • Facility is 100% nicotine-free.
  • Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri night/Sat night).
  • Up to two weeks of Return to Office (RTO) permitted; requests must be submitted with application and are subject to manager approval after confirmation.
  • Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's).
  • Local candidates not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility).
  • Pending license accepted if not in hand at submission, but booking will be six weeks out.
  • Mandatory scrubs: Steele gray scrubs with facility logo; facility provides info on obtaining scrubs and sells gray T-shirts.
  • Parking permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska.
  • Minimum of 1 year telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
  • At least 2 years of total travel nursing experience.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Experience with EPIC electronic charting system.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Certifications & Compliance

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) strongly preferred and required as applicable per unit.
  • PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable per unit description.
  • Background check within 30 days of start, including multiple county/state/federal checks.
  • Drug screening within 60 days of start and updated annually.
  • Physical exam and fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually.
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap within last 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire if history positive
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with boosters if needed
    • Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
    • COVID vaccine preferred; exemptions accepted
  • Education verification and references (2 work references within past 2 years).
  • Annual skills checklist required.
  • State-specific registry checks required prior to start.

  • Facility is a teaching hospital with a large acute-care bed capacity, serving complex patients.
  • Floating may include multiple units and the sister campus.
