Registered Nurse – Hematology/Oncology (Travel/Contract)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (5x8 hours)
Hours per Week: 40


Job Description

  • Work in an outpatient hematology clinic serving adult patients with malignant and non-malignant hematology conditions.
  • Responsibilities include rooming patients, phlebotomy, central line care, assisting with bone marrow biopsies, vaccinations, EKGs, phone triage, scheduling for infusions, patient education, phone calls, and case management.
  • Chemotherapy and infusions are not administered in this clinic setting.
  • Collaborate with both malignant and non-malignant hematology teams.
  • Manual differentials are performed by lab personnel, not RNs.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
  • Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience, with oncology experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Experience with central line care.
  • Experience assisting with bone marrow biopsies.
  • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system.

Orientation & Training

  • Unit orientation: 24 hours.
  • No float or weekend requirements.
  • Scrubs: Navy blue (not provided).
  • Interview required prior to offer.

Patient Population

  • Adult hematology patients (both malignant and benign).

Systems & Tools

  • EPIC electronic health record system.

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Background checks including local county, federal court, national criminal database, DOJ sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree earned.
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (negative 10-panel drug screen).
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, physical within 30 days required and updated annually.
  • Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training required.
  • Immunizations and titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer or declination), Flu vaccination or approved exemption.
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes.
  • Required to complete annual compliance and facility-specific education modules.

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete medication safety training and competency exams as applicable.
  • Must pass Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam if applicable (not required for this outpatient clinic setting).
  • Must complete facility-specific orientation checklists and confidentiality agreements.
  • Must provide professional references as per agency requirements.

  • No call-offs or additional time off after booking allowed; violations may result in cancellation.

  • Candidate must complete Corp ID and I-Learn account setup within specified timelines to avoid start delays.
