Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Shift Details

  • Night shift
  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Experience with intubation, nitric oxide therapy, and COVID-19 patient management
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Work Environment

  • 24/7 respiratory therapy department
  • Coverage includes all hospital floors:
    • 30-bed ICU
    • 25-bed Open Heart unit
    • 25-bed NICU
    • 47-bed Emergency Department with 5 trauma bays
  • Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
  • Weekend work every other weekend
  • No call requirements
  • Holiday work expectations:
    • If 1 major holiday occurs during assignment, expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays occur, expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays occur, expected to work 2 of them
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day

Orientation and Compliance

  • Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
  • Full compliance with onboarding requirements required to start on time; delays result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length

Dress Code

  • Scrub color: Any color except all red or all navy blue

Required Pre-Employment and Ongoing Documentation

  • Background check completed within 30 days prior to start, including:
    • County and national criminal searches
    • Sex offender registry
    • Education verification of related degree
  • Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • Diplomas required for RRTs
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (includes amphetamines, methamphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, methadone, PCP, propoxyphene, THC)
  • TB testing (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months; if positive, additional documentation required
  • Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB test result
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or signed declination (required during flu season)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap highly recommended but not required
  • Color blindness test required; alternative assessment available for blood collection tasks if needed

Competency Exams (Aya requirements)

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (for RRTs)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for ICU, Telemetry, ER, and related areas)
  • General competency exam for nursing and allied health professionals

References and Verification

  • Two clinical references required
  • Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually

This position is suitable for experienced Respiratory Therapists with required certifications and Georgia licensure, comfortable working nights in a high-acuity hospital environment covering a broad patient population from neonates to geriatrics. Prior travel experience is required (first-time travelers not accepted).
