Registered Nurse – Interventional Radiology (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 4 shifts of 10 hours each (7:30 AM – 6:00 PM)
  • Call requirements:
    • Weeknight call (Mon–Thu, 6:00 PM – 7:30 AM) about 3-4 times during the contract
    • Weekend call (Fri 6:00 PM – Mon 7:30 AM) about 1-2 weekends during the contract
  • May be required to stay past scheduled shift once a week to complete procedures ("Backup")
  • Expected to work every 5th or 6th Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM as needed
  • Average daily patient census: 8 patients per nurse
  • Procedural duties include titrating drips, managing central lines, CT-guided procedures, bone biopsies
  • Use of Philips monitors

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
  • Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Critical care experience in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and/or ED (Emergency Department)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Current ACLS certification

Certifications & Licenses

  • Current Registered Nurse license valid in Missouri
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
  • Must complete Relias Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam for new contracts
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
  • Drug screening within 1 year of start, covering a comprehensive panel, must remain valid throughout assignment
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept 30 – Apr 1)

Experience & Travel Requirements

  • Prior travel experience not required; first-time travelers accepted

Work Environment & Additional Expectations

  • Short-term acute care hospital setting
  • Teaching hospital with Level 1 trauma designation
  • Use of EPIC electronic health record system
  • Scrub color: Navy
  • Must adhere to facility dress code and hygiene policies (including fingernail policy)
  • Must complete facility-specific orientation modules (approximately 16 hours) prior to start
  • Parking available with monthly passes; no charge for straight night shifts

Compliance & Background Checks

  • Criminal background check within 6 months required (7-year search including statewide and nationwide checks)
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
  • Missouri Family Care Safety Registry and Highway Patrol checks required and must be renewed annually
  • Fingerprinting required for assignments involving Illinois long-term care or rehab units (not required for Missouri)
  • Various facility-specific compliance documents required prior to start, including:
    • HIPAA Acknowledgement
    • Latex Allergy Questionnaire
    • Confidentiality Form
    • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with 80% passing score)
    • TB Questionnaire (annual)
    • Hand Hygiene and Dress Code Policy acknowledgements

References & Documentation

  • Two professional references required (supervisors within last year preferred)
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
  • Employment application must be submitted and uploaded for facility review
