Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Care Details
- Observation Unit: Care for patients requiring evaluation/treatment between 8-48 hours (e.g., chest pain, asthma, abdominal pain, kidney stones, minor infections)
- Treatments include IV antibiotics, fluids, insulin drips, nitro for blood pressure, total protein and lipids monitoring
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- Days: 1:5
- Nights: 1:6 (occasionally 1:7)
- Drips required on all floors
- Floating within scope to various units including Bellevue campus (units may include 4CS, 5 West, 6 Neuro, 4/5 Lied, 6/7 Lied, 7 HVU, 8 Werner, 9 Trauma, Bellevue MS, Observation, SOTU)
- Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, swoop/paramedics; LPNs assigned on some floors
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital (must have 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center if first-time traveler)
- Prior Travel Experience: First-time travelers NOT accepted unless they meet the above experience criteria
- Certifications:
- BLS required
- ACLS preferred
- Charting: EPIC experience required
- Licensing: Pending license accepted but must be in hand at time of submission or booking will be delayed by six weeks
- Locals: Not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
- Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
- Work Schedule:
- Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period
- Weekend days: Saturday and Sunday
- Weekend nights: Friday and Saturday nights
- Holiday Requirement: Must work 2/3 major holidays
- Return to Office (RTO): Up to two weeks permitted, additional requests at manager discretion

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check within 30 days of start (includes nationwide checks and federal enhanced search)
- SAM and OIG checks required within 30 days and updated every 30 days thereafter
- Education verification required
- State-specific abuse/neglect registry check required
- Primary source license verification required prior to start
- Annual physical exam and fit mask test required
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap within last 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray documentation
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Varicella vaccines or positive titer
- Drug screen within 60 days of start and updated annually
- Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
- COVID vaccine preferred (medical/religious exemption or declination accepted)
- Annual skills checklist required
- References: 2 work references from past 2 years required
Additional Notes
- Must adhere to facility policies and safety manuals
- Eye exam required if working in OR (not applicable for this role unless floated to OR)
