Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Position: Registered Nurse (Telemetry)
- Patient Ratios: Average 1:4 during days, 1:5 during nights
- First-time travelers accepted
- Clinician may float within scope to meet facility needs
- Locals not accepted unless within 75 miles
- Pending license accepted but must be active prior to start date
- On-call not required
- Guaranteed hours

Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Certifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA or ARC only (check unit for requirement)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Not required for Pediatric Stepdown
- Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP) - Required for NICU only
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - Required for ER units, preferred for Pediatric ER
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) - Check unit description for requirement
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., Chemotherapy, CPI for Behavioral Health)
Required Licenses
- Primary source verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification including foreign equivalency for internationally educated RNs
- Sex offender search required
- Employment verification for last 7 years with no gaps greater than 90 days
- References: One supervisor reference within past year required for Cardio Thoracic ICU/CTICU (not charge nurse)
Competency Exams & Testing
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (85% passing score required)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates starting on/after 8/2/2024)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for Telemetry, MS/Tele, ER, ICU, Progressive Care, PACU, IR/Cath Lab units (not required for NICU or Behavioral Health)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (3M N95 preferred)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or declination within 1 year)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap highly preferred for Pediatric specialties, Labor & Delivery, Postpartum (declination accepted)
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccination series preferred

- Stroke Education (except Pediatric specialties and NICU)
- CLABSI Prevention for Adult and Pediatric Training
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training
- Language Services Training
- CAUTI Education Training (except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health)
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
- Pyxis ES MedStation Modules (except certain hospitals)
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
- Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain hospitals)
- AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers and Behavioral Health/Psych and Home Health)
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health)
- ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
- eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
- Chaperone Policy Training
- EPIC Testing or Training (highly encouraged for RNs with Epic experience)
- Vaccination Booster Medical Exemption (if applicable)
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
- Pending license accepted but must be active before start date.
- RTO (Return to Office) restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval.
- Locals are not accepted unless within 75 miles of the facility.
This position offers a comprehensive set of requirements and training to ensure high standards of patient care in a Level I Trauma Center environment.
