Location: Bristol, Tennessee

Job Details
- 36/36 schedule (36 hours on, 36 hours off)
- Every other weekend work required
- No on-call duties
- Floating to other units required
- General orientation includes 16 hours of non-billable training, starting on Sundays (online CBLs)
- Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
- Additional overtime shifts may be assigned based on hospital census without penalty
- Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Community hospital experience required
- First-time travelers accepted
- Must live at least 100 miles from the facility
- Registered Nurse license valid in Tennessee
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI accepted)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – verify unit requirements
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
- Competency exam required
Background & Health Requirements
- Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required
- Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required if licensed or working in Tennessee
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
- Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
- Immunizations and titers required or documentation of immunity for:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Respirator fit testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility sources not accepted)
Additional Information
- Photo for badge must meet specific standards and be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing
- Various facility-specific documents and policies must be reviewed and completed (e.g., dress code, smoking policy, exposure statements)
- References: 2 preferred, 3 ideal
