Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Position: Labor and Delivery RN
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (0700-1930)
• High-risk Labor & Delivery experience required
• Call requirement: 36 hours in 6 weeks or 12 hours per pay period (must be on premises within 45 minutes of call)
• Every other weekend and holiday required
• Float within skillset (Mom/Baby, postpartum, etc.) required
• Locals within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience (high-risk experience required)
• Certifications:

  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • STABLE certification
  • C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) required at submission (AWHONN acceptable as placeholder if C-EFM not yet completed, but must register for C-EFM course)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
• AWHONN certification preferred
• Skills: Circulate, FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring), preceptor and/or charge nurse experience preferred
• Triage experience preferred
• Must be able to float within related areas (Mom/Baby, postpartum)
• Prior travel experience not required (1st time travelers accepted)

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to respond to call within 45 minutes on-site
• Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
• Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps
• Background checks including criminal, education verification, and federal/state screenings required
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
• Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
• Immunizations and health documentation required:

  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (annual updates)
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) documentation or titers
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
  • Varicella documentation or titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and EKG/dysrhythmia testing may be required depending on unit
• Valid state RN license required prior to start

Work Environment

• High-risk Labor and Delivery unit
• Float to related units as needed
• Call and weekend/holiday coverage required

Summary

This is a travel contract opportunity for an experienced Labor and Delivery RN with high-risk L&D experience. The role requires specific certifications including NRP, STABLE, and C-EFM, with ACLS and BLS mandatory. Prior travel experience is not required, making it suitable for first-time travel nurses. The position includes call responsibilities and floating within related maternal-child care areas.
