Job Opportunity: Medical Lab Technician (Travel/Contract)

Location: Covington, Louisiana

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Alternating shifts: 7 days on, 7 days off (Wednesday night to Tuesday night)
Work in Core Lab and Blood Bank
Must be comfortable with Trauma/Massive Transfusion Protocol (MTP) blood bank
Weekend work required
Scrubs color: Caribbean Blue

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience in Laboratory specialty (Hospital Clinical Laboratory experience required)
Prior travel experience required (No first-time travelers accepted)
Required certifications:
- ASCP certification
- Louisiana state license for Medical Lab Technician
Epic experience preferred
Trauma Level II experience preferred

Required Documents and Compliance

Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
I9 and E-Verify compliance
Drug screening within 30 days of start (includes comprehensive panel)
Physical exam within 12 months of start
Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (recent testing required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella vaccines or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination (required Oct 1 – March 31)
Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days

Additional Notes

Candidates must have prior travel experience; first-time travelers will not be considered
Epic system experience and Trauma Level II experience are preferred but not mandatory
Weekend availability is required
