Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Sidney, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Nights, 3x12 hour shifts (7pm-7am), every 3rd weekend

Required Certifications

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): ARC, AHA, or US Department of Defense accepted
BLS (Basic Life Support): ARC, AHA, or US Department of Defense accepted
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for ER, preferred for RRTs, required as applicable
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure): Required for OB units
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Preferred but not required for ER
CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for Psych units (online courses not accepted)

Experience Requirements

Must hold a valid Ohio nursing license
NURSYS verification required for all RNs
Primary source verification of state license required

Background & Health Requirements

7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
FBI and BCI fingerprinting required (Ohio BCI fingerprinting only; must complete fingerprint appointment within 48 hours of contract signing)
Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30 days of start
Physical exam within last 12 months (physician statement)
Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap within 10 years or facility-specific declination
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, 3-dose vaccine series, or declination (must sign declination forms)
- Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (preferred, not required)
N95 fit test within past 12 months (3M 9205 model); on-site fit testing possible but not preferred
Respirator medical clearance annually if respirator use is required

Orientation & Competency

New Employee Orientation (NEO) module required prior to orientation (1-2 hours)
Medication test and rhythm analysis during orientation (2 attempts allowed)
Unit-specific competency exams required and must be updated annually
Core competency testing and HIPAA acknowledgment required

Additional Requirements

Proof of I9 or attestation
Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
Residency declaration form if working on a compact license
References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the facility for over 1 year

Schedule & Work Environment

Med Surg unit, night shift
3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
Every 3rd weekend required
