Job Details

• Unit: Telemetry Medicine Unit A (Cardiac telemetry patients)
• Floating: May be required to float to other med/surg and telemetry units
• Accepts first-time travelers

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of inpatient nursing experience required
• Prior travel experience not required

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Preferred
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) but not explicitly stated as mandatory for this role

Background and Compliance Requirements

• I-9 with supporting documentation
• Valid government-issued photo ID (must match all documentation)
• Criminal background check within 6 months of start date (7-year search including county, state, NSO, OIG, SAM, national criminal, sex offender, and OFAC)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• State-specific exclusion/adverse action searches required and must be updated every 6 months while on assignment
• Verification of licensure and education (diploma may be accepted in lieu of 3rd party verification)
• Employment verifications for the last 10 years, with at least 2 verifications required
• 2 supervisor-level references required, at least one within the last year

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by MD, NP, or PA, confirming good health and no physical limitations
• Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or acceptable declinations:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (TSPOT test required within 30 days of start)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer required
  • Hepatitis B – completed vaccine series, positive titer, or declination within last year
  • Varicella – proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer required
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start

Competency and Skills

• Must pass competency exams with minimum 80% score, including:

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (for Telemetry, Stepdown, PCU, ICU, ER)
  • Core Parts I, II, and III
  • OSHA Mandatory training
• Skills checklist current within the last year and updated annually

Additional Notes

• Documentation and training must be completed promptly, often within 24 hours of signing the contract
• Floating to other units may be required, so flexibility is important

This position is ideal for Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of inpatient experience who are interested in a travel/contract role in cardiac telemetry nursing without prior travel experience requirements.
