Job Details
- Position: Charge Nurse in Emergency Room (Nights)
- Schedule Options: 36 or 48 hours per week
- Weekends required
- Float required (ability to work in different units as needed)
- First-time travel nurses accepted
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as applicable
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - as applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) - as applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification - as applicable (expires annually)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable
Required Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
- Color Blind Testing (online version accepted)
- Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
- Annual Core Testing (for subcontractors)
Licensure & Verification
- Primary source online verification of state license required
- NURSYS Verification required for RN
- Education verification required (highest level of education)
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Charge ER Nights)
- Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 2 years typical for ER charge nurse roles
- Prior travel experience: Not required (first-time travel accepted)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
- Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire (if positive TB test) within 90 days of start
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
Background & Documentation
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start (updated annually)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only)
- Clear headshot photo for badge
- Complete employment application/resume required
- 7-year work history verification required
- Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
Additional Notes
- Orientation and EPIC training can be attended pending fingerprint clearance, but no unit work until clearance is received
- Flu exemptions require accompanying documentation for medical or religious reasons
- Various internal attestations and compliance documents required
