Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Charge ER Nights)

Job Details

  • Position: Charge Nurse in Emergency Room (Nights)
  • Schedule Options: 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Weekends required
  • Float required (ability to work in different units as needed)
  • First-time travel nurses accepted

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as applicable
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) - as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification - as applicable (expires annually)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable

Required Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
  • Color Blind Testing (online version accepted)
  • Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
  • Annual Core Testing (for subcontractors)

Licensure & Verification

  • Primary source online verification of state license required
  • NURSYS Verification required for RN
  • Education verification required (highest level of education)

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Charge ER Nights)
  • Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 2 years typical for ER charge nurse roles

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start

  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

Background & Documentation

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start (updated annually)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
  • Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only)
  • Clear headshot photo for badge
  • Complete employment application/resume required
  • 7-year work history verification required
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required annually

Additional Notes

  • Orientation and EPIC training can be attended pending fingerprint clearance, but no unit work until clearance is received
  • Flu exemptions require accompanying documentation for medical or religious reasons
  • Various internal attestations and compliance documents required

This position offers an opportunity for nurses new to travel assignments to gain experience in a busy ER night charge role with weekend and float responsibilities.
