Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (MICU)
- Experience Required: Minimum 1.5 years ICU experience required; preferably 1.5 years MICU experience. If less than 2 years, Level I experience is required.
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required. First-time travelers accepted.
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Start Date: 3-4 weeks out (based on compliance tier)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Yes, within ICU service line (float to MS areas within ICU)

Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Must pass Relias EKG exam (Interpretation/Management of Dysrhythmias required)
Clinical Competencies & Skills
- Experience in a 20+ bed ICU required
- Competent in:
- Pressor support
- Endotracheal tubes (ETT)
- Tracheostomies (Trachs)
- Feeding tubes
- Chest tubes
- Wound care
- Sterile technique including line insertion, paracentesis, bedside trach placement, chest tubes, bronchoscopy, phlebotomy
- Competent in caring for patients on CRRT via NxStage
- Preferred skills: Swan-Ganz catheter, inhaled and IV Flolan, CVVHD, proning, Massive Transfusion Protocol (MTP), Level 1 Rapid Transfuser

- Fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
- Education verification of highest nursing education required (cannot pend at start)
- State-specific searches and registries as applicable
Certifications Verification
- Primary source verification of professional license (Missouri licenses verified via NURSYS)
- IV Certification required for LPNs/LVNs at Missouri facilities
- Other certifications as applicable per unit (e.g., PALS, TNCC, CPI/MAB, NIH Stroke Certification)
Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Unit-specific competency exam (updated annually)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for MICU and other specified units (must be completed within 1 year of start and updated annually)
Health Documents
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test (annual renewal required)
- Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold within 1 year)
- Immunizations or immunity documentation for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
