Key Job Details

• Position: Lead Tech in Laboratory with mandatory lead blood bank experience
• Unit Procedures: Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, no weekends required
• Call: None
• Floating: Within facility/scope of practice as needed
• Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years (first-time travelers accepted)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Work Expectations

• Holiday Work: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler must work it; if 2 holidays, must work both; if 3 holidays, must work 2 of them.
• Major Holidays Include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
• Orientation: Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
• Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may push start date by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
• Locals Accepted: Yes, at the same rate

Required Credentials & Compliance

Licenses & Certifications

• State License verification (if applicable) within 30 days prior to start
• Education verification of related degree (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
• ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, EFM certifications as applicable (refer to specialty requirements)
• Tech Certification Verification - National (if applicable)
• Color Blind Testing (must pass or alternative assessment provided)

Health & Immunizations

• Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start (cannot start with results pending)
• TB Testing: PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months of start date; negative chest x-ray required if prior positive test
• TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
• Immunizations:

  • 2 MMR Vaccines or Positive Titer (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Hepatitis B Series or Signed Declination
  • 2 Varicella Vaccines or Positive Titer
• Flu Vaccine or Declination required (strongly encouraged during flu season)

Background & Documentation

• Background Check required within 30 days of start (must be complete prior to start)
• Photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID) required
• Physical Exam within 1 year of start
• References: 2 clinical references required
• Work History Verification (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
• Skills Checklist updated within 12 months
