Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: La Jolla, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year of travel experience with at least 6 months of continuous travel experience between 07/2025 and present
• Prior Travel Experience: Required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract with continuous experience as specified)
• Geographic Restriction: No locals within 100-mile radius

Certifications Required

• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
• AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) Certification
• Interview availability required

Work Requirements

• Float Requirements: May be required to float to like units or lower acuity units (excluding Emergency Department) as needed
• Weekend/Holiday Requirements: Must work 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week cycle and at least one Winter Holiday, including the holiday weekend
• Start Date Priority: January 12 or January 26 preferred; later dates considered based on candidate flow

Experience with Electronic Health Records

• Must have 6 months or more experience with EPIC or Cerner systems
• Less than 6 months experience with these systems will result in automatic cancellation

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Proof of N95 fit test within 1 year prior to start (specific approved mask models required)
• Tdap vaccine required (no declinations accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months of start; annual updates required
• Required vaccinations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (2 vaccines or titers with boosters if needed)
• Hepatitis B vaccination series, titer, or signed declination
• 9-panel drug test within 1 year of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or agency flu declination required year-round
• COVID-19 vaccination required unless approved medical or religious exemption is on file

Documentation and Background Checks

• 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, county, state, federal, national criminal, and sex offender searches
• HHS/OIG clearance required
• Primary source verification of state license (California RN license required; EMSA not accepted for per diem)
• Two satisfactory references
• Employment application and skills checklist required
• Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreement, standards of conduct acknowledgment, and validation of qualifications must be completed prior to start
• Completion of Scripps Learning Modules (approximately 8 hours) prior to start

Additional Notes

• No scrub color requirement; OR and Labor & Delivery scrubs provided by facility
• Pyxis acknowledgment required for RNs prior to start
• Employee flu clinics available for free flu vaccinations for contractors with badge
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification or module required for Emergency Department travelers

This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs who meet the certification, travel experience, and compliance requirements and are willing to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.
