Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Battle Creek, Michigan
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Date Desired: January 12th
- Shift Options: 36 or 48 hour weeks available
- Must be available for the entire first 8 days of assignment
- Will float to other Medical-Surgical units approximately once per week
- Work every other weekend
- Staffing Ratio: 1:5-6 for nights; may flex to 1:8 with LPN support
- Must be willing to work with a variety of staff (RNs, LPNs, Techs, etc.)
- Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed or approved at this time
Unit Description
- 37-bed Medical, Surgical, Oncology Unit (C5)
- Patient types include general medical diagnoses and surgical patients specializing in gastrointestinal, urological, and gynecological surgeries (e.g., hysterectomies, mastectomies)
- Other specialties seen: ortho/neurovascular, cardio/pulmonary
- Floating to other Med/Surg units as needed
Requirements
Licensure & Certifications
- Michigan RN License (pending license acceptable with ETA provided)
- BLS (AHA) required (pending acceptable if willing to obtain)
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI, ENPC as applicable based on unit assignment
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
Experience
- Minimum 1 year Med/Surg experience required
- Preference for 2 years Med/Surg experience
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit prior travel experience required
Compliance & Documentation
Background Checks
- Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search back to age 18
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification required (copy of highest degree or diploma acceptable)
- State-specific searches and fingerprinting requirements as applicable
Health & Immunizations
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 45 days of start (no exceptions)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (must include pertussis)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Drug testing: 10 panel including Marijuana/THC within 45 days of start
- Flu vaccination required for candidates starting after November 1, or approved medical/spiritual exemption
Other Requirements
- MI LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start for certain positions/units
- Central Registry Clearance required for pediatric, RRT, L&D, and certain specialty roles
- References: One professional reference from a supervisor or manager required
- Complete employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps
Additional Notes
- Must be willing to float to other Med/Surg units as needed
- Staffing ratios may flex with LPN support
- No guarantee of block scheduling
- Must work every other weekend
