Physical Therapist - Home Health (Travel/Contract)
Location: Ketchikan, Alaska

Shift: Monday - Friday, 5x8 hour days (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, start time flexible)

Floating: May float to hospice within scope if needed; no floating to sister facilities
Schedule Flexibility: Open to block scheduling (Monday-Friday)

Job Summary
- Evaluate patients and establish treatment plans and goals based on patient records, interviews, and observations.
- Provide patient treatment according to plan of care; modify plans as needed.
- Complete documentation accurately and timely, meeting regulatory and licensure standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure continuous patient care.
- May supervise therapy assistants, aides, volunteers, and provide clinical instruction to students.
- Participate in quality improvement, staff meetings, educational in-services, and other professional activities.
Patient Population & Procedures
- Community-based care in patients' homes with office on campus.
- Average daily census: 26 patients.
- Common diagnoses: COPD, CHF, orthopedic procedures (including joint replacements), neurological diseases.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program (or foreign equivalent).
Licensure & Certifications
- Alaska Physical Therapist License required (Compact PT license accepted).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Epic experience preferred but not required.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Home Health or Orthopedic/Aging (OA) experience required.
- First-time travelers accepted if they have OASIS experience.
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required.

- Ability to assess patient conditions and exercise independent judgment.
- Strong organizational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements & Information
- Reliable vehicle needed for travel between patient homes.
- No on-call or weekend work required.
- May provide oversight and mentorship to therapy assistants and students.
- Must complete facility-specific orientation and training modules prior to start.
- Background checks and various health screenings (including drug testing, immunizations, and fit testing) required per facility policy.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start required.
- Compliance with facility vaccination and exemption policies (flu, COVID-19, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap) required.
- Fit testing for N95 masks required if providing patient care onsite.

- Ketchikan, Alaska: mild winter climate with temperatures ranging from 30-40°F, moderated by the Pacific Ocean.
