Registered Nurse (RN) – MS/Tele Float

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Start Date: Approximately 3-4 weeks from compliance completion
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Days and weekends: 1:5-6
    • Nights: 1:6
  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule minimum (Saturday/Sunday), plus holiday rotation
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to all Medical units, renal, oncology, neuro, cardiology, and surgical units
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted within 75-mile radius
  • Pending License: Accepted
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract
  • Guaranteed Hours: Yes, minimum 3 shifts per 13 weeks
  • Special Requirements: Use of lift devices (training provided), ceiling lifts, bladder scanner

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • IV Start
  • Telemetry

Preferred:

  • NIH Stroke Certification

Unit Float Details

  • Float between medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, and cardiology units
  • Float pool workers receive unit assignment up to 1 hour before shift start via recorded line
  • Pre-assigned units communicated with timeframe

Background Checks

  • Criminal background check within 6 months of start (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, and international if applicable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG quarterly checks
  • State-specific searches and highway patrol checks as required
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree
  • Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab units

Certifications Verification

  • Primary source verification of professional license (NURSYS for Missouri)
  • IV Certification proof required for LPNs/LVNs (if applicable)
  • MAB or CPI certification if applicable
  • Other unit-specific certifications as required

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must meet passing score)
  • Unit-specific competency exam (updated annually)
  • Oncology competency exam required for Med Surg-Oncology unit

Health Documents

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test (annual renewal required)
  • Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold within 1 year)
  • Immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (with specific unit exemptions)
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, including specific drug panels
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement (annual)
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire (annual)
  • Confidentiality Form (annual)
  • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual, completed via WorkRamp)
  • Hepatitis B declination (facility-specific)

  • Hand Hygiene Policy acknowledgment
  • Fingernail Policy acknowledgment
  • Dress Code Policy acknowledgment
  • Orientation Modules (required for all RNs and LVNs, approx. 16 hours, completed via WorkRamp)
  • Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, taken within 6 months)

References & History

  • Two professional references required (supervisors within last year preferred)
  • Employment application required
  • Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year of start (Oncology skills checklist required for Med Surg-Oncology unit)
  • Performance evaluations may be requested but not required for clearance or extensions

Additional Notes

  • Nurses will float to multiple units as needed, with assignments communicated timely
  • Weekend and holiday work is mandatory as per schedule
  • No block scheduling or local hires within 75 miles
  • Pending licenses accepted to facilitate faster start
  • Compliance with all background checks, certifications, health documents, and facility policies is mandatory for assignment clearance

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 2 years of experience who are flexible in floating across multiple medical units and can meet weekend and holiday scheduling requirements. Prior travel experience is not required.
