Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery) - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Escondido, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Nights (3x12 hour shifts)
Float: Labor RNs float to Postpartum; RNs may float to Poway Campus


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of directly related RN experience in Labor and Delivery, OB Circulating, and OB PACU
  • Prior travel experience: No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)

Education & Certifications

  • BSN required
  • Current California RN license
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring Certification (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
  • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

  • I9 verification
  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID with address
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal search, national criminal, sex offender, FACIS Level 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS license verification
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP, confirming good health and free of communicable diseases
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start (annual renewal required for direct hires)
  • Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start
  • TB screening (2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year and updated annually, or chest X-ray if past positive
  • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; declinations accepted where noted)
  • Flu vaccination or declination form required annually prior to flu season
  • COVID vaccination preferred; declination form required if unvaccinated
  • References: 2 references within 3 years from manager, supervisor, or charge RN
  • Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)

Competency & Training Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% pass rate)
  • Unit Specialty Competency Exam (80% pass rate)
  • Core Part I, II, and III exams (80% or above, updated annually)
  • Pass/Fail arrhythmia exam prior to start for ICU, CCU, ER, PACU, Tele, Med/Surg, Cath Lab, and related units
  • Online orientation and facility-specific training modules assigned via LMS platform
  • Badge photo with white background required prior to start

Additional Notes

  • Cerner EMR charting system used
  • Labor RNs float to Postpartum; may float to Poway Campus
  • No locals accepted for this travel assignment
