Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Tampa, Florida
Contract Length: 20 weeks


Job Description

  • Must have infusion experience.
  • Skilled home care experience required (private duty nursing experience only not accepted).
  • Home health experience with OASIS training and experience required.
  • IV skills and wound care.
  • Experience with general medical diagnoses and high-risk diagnoses including:
    • Heart Failure (HF)
    • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
    • Myocardial Infarction (MI)
    • Pneumonia
    • Stroke
  • Post-operative care.
  • BCLS certification required.
  • Scrubs: Any solid color scrub.

Unit Information

  • Patient care includes cardiopulmonary assessment, basic wound care, ABI compression dressing, wound vac dressing, Pleurx/Aseptdrain care, Foley catheter change and care, staple/suture removal, glucometer use, pro-time machine use, SQ/IM injections, lab draw venipuncture, IV skills, PICC line or Midline care and dressing change, SQ port access/deaccess.
  • Skilled Home Care visits (Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Commercial insurance).
  • 6-8 home skilled visits per day.
  • Shift hours vary based on HomeCare office needs:
    • Monday - Friday 8 AM to 5 PM or 9 AM to 6 PM
    • Thursday - Monday or Friday - Tuesday shifts
    • Alternating weekend shifts
  • Visits and hours are self-scheduled based on office needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (home health and infusion experience emphasized).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable car required for home visits.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required or exemption form on file.
  • Flu shot required or declination on file; mask wearing mandatory at all times while at work.

Certifications & Competencies

  • Required:
    • BCLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Preferred/As applicable:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
    • mRS (Modified Rankin Scale) Certification
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) for Behavioral Health or Psych ER (MAB can substitute for ER only)
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80% or higher).
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (100% lethal arrhythmia score required for certain units).
  • Color Blind Testing (Relias Color Blind Exam required prior to start).
  • Competency Exams relevant to profession and unit.

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 6 months of start.
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 10 weeks of start; chest X-ray and TB questionnaire if prior positive PPD.
  • Annual TB Questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test.
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Standard 9 Panel Drug Test within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted).
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or declination with mask requirement.
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption.
  • Respirator medical clearance annually if respirator use is required.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid driver’s license must remain current throughout assignment.
  • Background checks including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG required within 1 year of start.
  • Foreign equivalency evaluation required if education completed outside USA or Puerto Rico.
  • Primary source verification of nursing license required.
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs.
  • Fingerprinting: Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint results required prior to start; Livescan electronic fingerprinting recommended if not already cleared.
  • Photo for badge required prior to start (clear, professional, solid background).
  • Personal or auto insurance required and must be current for home health positions.
  • BayCare Health MSP dress code and tobacco policy must be followed.
  • Completion of BayCare Online Learning Center modules required prior to start (4-8 hours; deadline is Thursday prior to start).
  • BayCare Health MSP fit mask acknowledgement required.
  • BayCare Health MSP EMR signature request form required for home health candidates.
  • References: 2 references from past 2 years required.
  • Employment application and skills checklist required.
