Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in medical surgical units including med surg, orthopedic, and general surgery.
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 AM - 7 PM).
• Workdays primarily weekdays with some weekends.
• Experience with IV starts, telemetry, and charge nurse duties preferred.
• Experience with orthopedic cases such as total hips and knees is a plus.
• Rural health experience is also a plus.
• Familiarity with TRUBRIDGE EMR preferred but willing to train.
• Must be able to quickly adapt and integrate into the team.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license valid in Kansas (KS State or Compact License).
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in the specialty.
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification preferred.
• Ability to perform IV starts and telemetry monitoring.
• Charge nurse experience preferred.

• Required health documents include physical exam, TB testing, immunizations (Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B), and seasonal flu vaccination during flu season.
• References: Proof of two clinical or professional references required.
• Competency exams and orientation training must be completed as part of onboarding.

Summary

This is a travel nursing contract for a Medical Surgical RN with at least 2 years of experience, preferably with orthopedic and rural health exposure. The position requires flexibility for weekday and some weekend shifts, strong clinical skills including IV starts and telemetry, and appropriate certifications/licenses. First-time travelers and local nurses are both considered.
