Job Description

Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele) Registered Nurse
Patient Ratios:
- Day/Evening: 5:1 (stretch 6-7)
- Night: 6-7:1 (stretch 8-10 if staff calls in)
Patient Diagnoses: Acute respiratory failure, CHF, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, sepsis
Special Requirements:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response Teams
- Peripheral line care/management
- Oxygen delivery devices (nasal cannula, face masks, portable tanks)
- Non-invasive airway management
- Isolation precautions
Special Equipment Experience: BIPAP, CPAP, High Flow, Ventilators, tracheostomy care, chest tubes
Competency in phlebotomy and IV placement required
Charting system: Epic (preferred)
Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white
Float: May be required to float within scope to like units
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
On-call: Not required
Locals: Not accepted within 75 miles
Block scheduling: Attempted but not guaranteed
Blackout Dates: No return to office May 8-10
First-time travelers accepted

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in New York
Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
National Tech Certification verification
Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
State License primary source verification
NURSYS verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Competency in phlebotomy and IV placement
Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Peripheral line care and management

Health and Compliance Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
Fit mask testing within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
Drug screening within 30 days of start
Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

References: 2 references within 3 years (required for direct hire only)

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing who are comfortable managing acute respiratory and cardiac patients, have strong IV and phlebotomy skills, and are willing to work a travel contract in Rochester, NY.
