Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse
Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: No
- Floating: No floating between units or sister facilities required
- Facility Type: Free Standing Emergency Room with 14 rooms including a Resuscitation Room
- Charting System: Epic
- Parking: Free
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current certifications:
- ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Guaranteed hours with facility allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius
- Block schedule accommodations may be requested but are not guaranteed
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Must be completed within 90 days of start
- Includes SSN trace, multi-county and statewide checks, sex offender registry, national criminal, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
- Work History Verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified; attestation letters accepted only if other verification methods exhausted
- References: Minimum 2 clinical references required, including at least one from the unit of assignment
- Employment Application: Must include all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Must be completed within 90 days of start, updated annually, confirming ability to meet job demands without restrictions
- Immunizations & Titers:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; low titers require boosters
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- TB Testing: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray documentation required
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests accepted
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (August 1 - March 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations; documentation must be uploaded by December 5 deadline
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required via RespSafety virtual questionnaire

- Photo for Badge: Passport-style color photo with solid light background, frontal view, cropped from shoulders up; no sunglasses or hats
- Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; estimated 2 hours; failure to complete results in being sent home
