Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Patient Population & Unit Description
- Adult to Geriatric patients
- Intermediate level care (monitoring interventions no more frequent than every hour)
- Medical-surgical and telemetry patients with diagnoses such as dysrhythmias, CHF, acute onset stroke (non-TPA), Acute Coronary Syndrome, and Myocardial Ischemia
- Fast-paced environment focused on patient throughput and patient-centered care
- All patients are on hardwire telemetry, self-monitored by the RN
- Unit census: 12 beds with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Unit systems: Epic (EHR), Pyxis (medication dispensing)
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Shift Details
- Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week)
- Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS certification
Orientation & Compliance
- Return to Orientation (RTO) required within 7 days of assignment start
- Full compliance with all documentation and credentialing required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
Holidays
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler expected to work 2 of them
- Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
