Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Job Summary

Seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with experience in respiratory and neuro diagnostics. The role involves working across long-term care and acute care settings, with weekend coverage every other week, holiday coverage, and on-call duties.

Patient Diagnoses

• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
• Pneumonia
• Respiratory Failure
• Respiratory Infections

Key Responsibilities & Skills

• ABG sampling
• Ventilation management
• Patient assessment
• Pulmonary hygiene
• Use of specialized equipment: Servo-U, LTV, NKV330, AirVo2, V60
• Float between long-term care and acute care units as needed
• Adult critical care and emergency department experience
• Airway management: endotracheal tube suctioning, extubation, intubation assist, nasal and oral airway placement and suctioning, tracheostomy suctioning
• Sputum specimen collection
• Use of respiratory devices: handheld nebulizers, T-piece, trach collar, bag and mask, ET tube, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), BiPAP, CPAP
• Troubleshooting high pressure alarms
• Weaning patients from mechanical ventilation
• Experience in long-term care settings
• Patient ratio experience: 1:15

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New York
• Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience in long-term care settings
• Adult critical care experience
• Emergency department experience
• Proficient in airway management including endotracheal tube suctioning, extubation, nasal and oral airway placement
• Skilled in use of respiratory devices such as handheld nebulizers, T-piece, ET tube, and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Patient ratio experience of 1:15

Additional Information

• Float between long-term care and acute care units as needed
• Weekend coverage every other week, including major and minor holidays
• On-call coverage required
• Scrubs color: Gray or Gray/Black combination
• Must be willing to travel more than 50 miles from home (locals not accepted)
• First-time travelers may be accepted depending on experience level

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required; first-time travelers may be considered based on experience
