Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Requires 2 supervisory or manager professional references (Charge RN acceptable for one). Peer references are not accepted.
  • Prefer close to 2 years of experience in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty.
  • Floating to other units is required for most positions.
  • Ohio State license required for Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Ohio
  • Minimum of 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NBRC certification
  • Experience in Charge roles as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Valid government-issued photo ID matching legal name on license and certifications.
  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked).
  • Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse or equivalent.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
  • Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting within 60 days of start, updated for each new contract.
  • State-specific searches including Nurse Aide Registry, Inmate Registry, Medicaid Exemption, and Abuse Registry within 30 days of start.
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start.
  • Required certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as applicable
    • NBRC certification for RRTs
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable.
  • State license verification within 30 days of start.
  • Annual N95 fit testing required; must be completed within 1 year of start and updated annually.
  • Required health documents:
    • Physical exam (within 1 year of start)
    • Immunizations and titers including Tdap (within 10 years), TB testing, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions require approval.
  • Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
  • Affiliating Health Record and other facility-specific documents as required.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates with positive TB results must complete additional questionnaires and follow-up requirements.
  • Fingerprinting results can pend at start if completed onsite.
  • Candidates must provide proof of fingerprinting and fit testing appointments if not completed prior to start.
  • Floating to other units is a job requirement.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
