Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Job Details

• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, with alternating weekends
• Effort made to keep shifts at consistent start times weekly

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
• California Registered Nurse License

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the Emergency Department (ED)
• Emergency Department experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• TNCC certification
• NIHSS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
• Education verification (highest level achieved) required; BSN preferred
• Various federal and state screenings including EPLS, OIG, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender Search, and others as applicable
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per California law)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
  • Varicella
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
• Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually

Additional Requirements

• Full 7 years of work history documented with no gaps (or explanations for gaps)
• Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years (clinical/allied/per diem acute care)
• Various facility-specific documents and attestations must be reviewed and signed prior to start
• Competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology and telemetry if required

• Emergency Room setting
• Travel assignment in California

Summary

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in the Emergency Room requiring at least 2 years of RN experience, multiple advanced certifications, and compliance with extensive background, health, and competency requirements. The contract is approximately 13 weeks with 12-hour shifts and alternating weekends. Candidates must hold a valid California RN license and meet all immunization and screening standards.
