Job Summary
The Educator is a Registered Nurse (RN) who serves as a strategic leader in advancing nursing practice and workforce development. This role involves designing and implementing clinical education and competency strategies aligned with organizational priorities, regulatory standards, and nursing excellence goals. The Educator supports onboarding, competency management, professional role development, and promotes lifelong learning among nurses and interprofessional partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Onboarding and Orientation: Lead orientation and integration of new clinical staff focusing on patient safety, clinical performance, and retention. Design and evaluate orientation curricula using principles of equity.
- Competency Management: Collaborate with leadership to determine and implement competency requirements, including regulatory standards. Develop competency demonstration plans for clinical roles.
- Education and Learning Facilitation: Conduct annual needs assessments and develop education plans to address practice gaps. Use innovative teaching strategies and evaluate educational outcomes.
- Professional Role Development: Facilitate continuous professional growth, support transitions in practice, and mentor clinical staff. Encourage and provide resources for professional certification.
- Scientific Inquiry: Support research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice initiatives. Disseminate findings through educational programs.
- Leadership and Change Management: Align work with organizational goals, foster innovation, and support change management efforts.
- Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: Promote a healthy work environment by supporting equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives and eliminating bias in clinical learning environments.
Work Schedule
- Variable schedule with intermittent remote options.
- Must reside within a 100-mile radius of Portland-Vancouver metro area.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Educator, with educator experience within the last year.
- Acute Care clinical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Nursing Education.
- At least 2 years of recent leadership experience.
- Experience with Learning Management System Administration.
- System Program Management experience.
- ANCC Program Accreditation knowledge.
- NPD-BC Certification.
Required Certifications
- BLS (AHA provider only).
- ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications may be required depending on clinical area (AHA provider only).
- Other certifications as applicable to specialty and role.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Valid government-issued photo ID required on first day.
- Background check within 6 months prior to start, including education and work history verification.
- National sex offender search and other regulatory screenings required.
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel with methamphetamines listed, within 3 months prior to start.
- Physical exam and fit mask testing required within one year prior to start.
- Immunizations and health screenings including Tdap, TB test or chest x-ray, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and flu vaccination or signed declination.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start.
- Two professional references from supervisors within the last 24 months required.

- Candidates must be fully available for compliance needs up until start date.
- Must complete required online training modules prior to first day to receive badge.
- Support for professional certification and continuing education is encouraged.
