Registered Nurse - PCU

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Schedule: 36 hours on / 36 hours off (36/36 schedule)
• No call required; rotating weekends
• Floating required with a 1:7 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Must be competent in Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) skills
• Traveler must live within 100 miles of the facility
• General orientation begins on Sundays (includes 16 hours of non-billable orientation, starting with online compliance training)
• Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Additional shifts beyond the work commitment may be offered as overtime and adjusted based on census needs
• Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
• Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) experience
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Certifications & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification required
• Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check if licensed or working in Tennessee
• Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
• NURSYS verification required
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Competency exam required
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Respiratory fit mask testing completed onsite
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity/declination:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
• Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season

Additional Notes

• Candidate photo for badge must meet specific standards and be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing
• Various facility-specific documents and policies must be reviewed and acknowledged, including dress code, smoking/tobacco use, contaminated sharps exposure, influenza policy, and respirator medical evaluation
• References: Minimum 2 preferred, 3 ideal
• Skills checklist required

Prior Travel Experience

• No prior travel experience required; accepts first-time travelers
