Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MedSurg Cardiac/Telemetry)

Location: Marrero, Louisiana

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Work Schedule

• MedSurg Cardiac/Telemetry floor
• Patient ratio: 1:6
• Weekend shifts required
• No on-call duties
• Float required
• Scheduling options: alternating 3x12 and 4x12 shifts every other week, or straight 4x12 shifts

Patient Population

• Care for patients with:

  • Chronic Pulmonary (CP), COPD
  • Renal Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Post Myocardial Infarctions (MIs)
  • Special Procedure Patients/Post Catheterization
  • Varied Medical/Surgical issues
  • Cardiac drips, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • Telemetry monitoring

Required Experience & Skills

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of MedSurg/Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR)

Required Certifications & Licenses

Additional Requirements

• Return to Office (RTO) within 5 days or add time to end of contract
• Must pass background checks and verifications as per facility policy
• Required competencies include medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, and core competency exams updated annually
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tdap within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titer proof
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or titer proof
  • Seasonal flu vaccination (required Oct 1 – Mar 31, with exemptions accepted)
• Drug screening within 30 days of start date

Summary

This is a travel contract RN position on a MedSurg Cardiac/Telemetry unit requiring at least 2 years of relevant experience and Epic EHR proficiency. The role involves weekend work, floating, and a 1:6 patient ratio. Certifications in BLS and ACLS are mandatory. Candidates must meet comprehensive health, background, and competency requirements.
